The Sorbonne-Nouvelle University, previously called the University of Paris III - Sorbonne Nouvelle, but also known as Paris 3, is a French university located in Paris. Founded in 1971, it is one of the thirteen new universities which replaced the new University of Paris, dissolved after the events of May 1968, itself heir to the old University of Paris founded in the 12th century. The headquarters of the Sorbonne Nouvelle University is located at the Sorbonne, a historic building that it shares with two other universities (Panthéon-Sorbonne and Sorbonne-Université). The university mainly provides courses in literature, language sciences, languages, performing arts, communication and European studies (multidisciplinary history, economics, law and political science). Ranked in the top 50 of the best language universities in the world in the very renowned QS World University Rankings in 2021, it is also one of the best universities in the country in many fields.
